A Fruit-full day.

Snow day today! I love snowdays minus the fact that I'm stuck at home with a bunch of nummy foods. I tried (to no avail) to stay away from snacky foods. Oh well. I digress.

Breakfast: Miso again, but today's miso was a special miso paste from Japan. It had preserved lotus root in it and was sweeter than my usual white miso. Yeck to the sweetness factor.
Bar of the Day: 1/2 of a Clif Pear Apple Strudel Bar. Verdict? I like it, but it's a bit sweet as are all the clif bars (minus the nectar ones)

Sunkist Roasted Almonds. nuts are my downfall :(

Soy yogurt with Bear Naked Apple Cinnamon granola, Puffins, and Fiber One.

and then some nice hot tea :)
Grapefruit 1
Grapefruit 2
2 clementines
PB Banana. Salmonella outbreak? pshhh.
Yeah so I was doing pretty okay snackish wise. Until I had more almonds and Puffins in the afternoon. and then guiltless gourmet chips. eeeep.

Blah. Now I have a bunch of stuff to work on; namely my research paper for freshman comp on binge eating disorders. woohoo. See you all around!

Jungle Jim's!

Hey guys. So eating at campout was a half disaster. I brought two wraps, but only got to eat one since the bag of ice in my mini cooler melted an drowned the other one :( Good news though! I had my first raspberry dark chocolate clif nectar bar, and I must say it is SO GOOD. It's practically a chocolate bar. And I was still able to have my beloved miso soup! I brought a tupperware-ish soup container that had frozen edamame, dried wakame, and miso paste in it. By adding hot water (which, thank God, was readily available), I was able to have my miso! I also brought hummus and veggies and a chocolate chew Larabar. Sorry for no pics though; I was already self conscious enough eating my own packed food.

So anyways, after campout (which was pretty much a drag), I got to go to Jungle Jim's!!! I seriously was waiting all weekend just to go. It's an international market that pretty much sells everything (including the largest ever selection of veggie friendly foods!)

Check out all the stuff I got!! (I'm sort of a shopoholic when it comes to grocery shopping ^_^)
I got:
Barley flour, Spelt flour, Whole Wheat Pastry Flour, a Clif Dark Chocolate Walnut Bar, Clif Pear Apple and Pumpkin Pie bars, a Yotta bar (more in a bit!), a jar of Nacho Chreese Dip!!, SoyBoy Raviolis(!!!!), some instant vegan ramen-esque cups, a tofurky, a celebration roast!!!, Ezekiel English Muffins, Guiltless Gourmet Blue Corn Chips, Brown Rice Lasagna noodles, Cinnamon Puffins!! (i love those things), Kashi TLC Pumpkin Spice Bars, Wildwood Tofu Burgers, more than tofu Pesto Tofu, Field Roast Slices, a bag of Organic Sucanat, a bottle of Annie's Organic Ketchup, Raspberry vegan "jello", Black Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Garden Veggie Tempeh, Fakin' Bacon, and Vegan Cheese Slices.

Whew! That was a lot of stuff!! haha.

Then for dinner, we went to my friend's restaurant for Chinese New Year dinner! I had 2 kinds of braised tofu, bok choy, and garlicky green beans. Superyum!

And today, I had my essential miso-tofu-edamame-wakame soup!
MIDMORNING SNACK aka Bar of the Day: YOTTA Bar. I got this yesterday at Jungle Jim's and now, I wish I had gotten more!

Check out the nutrition stats. Pretty decent minus the fact that there are 11 g of sugar and only 2g each of protein and fiber. Oh well.
Tada! The color is a bit funky-- green tinted. haha. but that's only because of the ingredients which include: baby oats, brown rice syrup, apples, peas, asparagus, broccoli, sweet potatoes, celery, green peppers, rolled oats, crisped rice, cinnamon, and some other happy things.
And for lunch today I had the avocado wraps(without the sauce) that I got yesterday at Jungle Jim's. Aren't they pretty?
And it's nice that the ingredient list was short too.
Snack today--2 clementines,
some Fiber One+Soy yogurt,
and a bowl of Cinnamon Puffins (<3) !
And that's all for now. Got to do some schoolwork and then eat dinner and then watch my all-time, most favorite show ever-- 24!

See you all tommorow!

A Snackish Sort of Day

Today began with miso again! I really like having something warm/savory in the morning, and soup really fills me up. Hooray.

Today's midmorning snack/ Bar of the day was a clif nectar bar-- cinnamon apple. I still like apple pie larabars better, but it was alright.

Lunch was a tofu-hummus salad wrap (La Tortilla Factory High Fiber Wraps). Didn't have a chance to get a pic bc my camera died unfortunately. It was good though!

After school snack began with a grapefruit. I usually love grapefruit, but today's tasted a little too sour :/

2nd Snack item-- Soy yogurt+fiber one+cinnamon= yumm. and pretty filling. Hooray for fiber and protein! ha.

Sunkist roasted almonds! I really really really love almonds. If the fat and sodium levels were a bit lower, I think I'd live off of them :)

Apple with PB. I seriously love peanut butter. :)

Well, I'm off to eat dinner now and then youth group at church. Tomorrow, I'm going to be going to a 'campout' for our local Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, so I'll be playing violin until Sunday afternoon D: (horrors). See you all back here on maybe Sunday!

Oh yeah. I almost forgot:

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

My parents have been preparing a bunch of stuff, so hopeufully I'll have something interesting to post about.

Super Secret Surprise Snack Pack!

Started off the chilly day with a bowl of miso soup: miso paste, tofu, edamame, and some wakame sprinkled with white pepper. Yum!

Behold! I present to thee.... my lunchbag! "What's so great about it?" you ask. Scroll down...
Look! It even has... a cell phone holder?
Guess again! What could that be?
A conveniently perfect sized snack bar holder! (which makes for a convenient midmorning snack holder :D) Bar of the day: Chocolate Coconut Chew Larabar
At the lunch table today, I had sun-dried tomato basil hummus with cukes and 1/2 a Damascus Bakery pita and a grapefruit (love!) :]
After school, a small apple+clementine happily made their way into me tummy.
And later, some Silk soy yogurt with Fiber One and several almonds joined them.
And for dinner-- Steamed brown rice, garlicky kale, and (what else?) braised tofu! Hooray!

I think I really like posting my everyday eats. It really cuts out all of my mindless snacking. Yay! ^_^

Wafflin'

Welcome to my new blog! It's Miso Hungry because, well, me so hungry! ^.^ I'll typically be posting my every day eats here. Check out my other blog to see my more grandiose creations!

Anyways, today, in Freshman Comp, we had a party! So I volunteered to bring a surprise :) And what was my surprise? Waffles! And not just any waffles; hello kitty waffles! Haha.

Here's the equipment, all laid out and ready to go in our teacher's lounge (Most students aren't allowed in there, but I'm special :D). I used the VWAV recipe for basic pancakes and added chocolate chips.

Waffles in the making....

Here's the top of the hello kitty waffle maker! It steamed and made odd squealing noises while cooking, so I got a video of it; it's at the end of the post :)

...Ding! Waffles!

First portion. I hadn't found cooking spray for these, so they stuck pretty bad :/ haha.

Second portion of the batch. I used more spray for these, so they stuck less.

Here's the squealing kitty!
